Kate Turetsky is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Barnard College, Columbia University, and director of the Group Dynamics Lab. Her research focuses on group processes, social ecology, and intervention science to address inequality, wellbeing, and educational challenges. She employs social network analysis, field experiments, and big data to study topics like intergroup relations and educational disparities.
Education: B.A. in Psychology and Art from Amherst College (201X), Ph.D. in Psychology from Columbia University (20XX). Postdoctoral research at Princeton University focused on educational inequality.
Research interests include social networks' impact on psychology, interventions to reduce stigma and promote equity, and how media and social environments shape societal polarization and identity-based attitudes. Recent work explores teacher psychology’s role in educational inequality and the effects of psychological interventions on STEM retention.
Her grants and fellowships include support from the National Science Foundation, Spencer Foundation, and Overdeck Family Foundation. She teaches Social Psychology and Behavioral Research Methods and Analysis.
