Her educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University
- MEd in Administration and Supervision from University of Virginia

Dr. Scarborough's research examines teacher preparation through critical lenses including faith-vocation integration, diverse learner perceptions, and innovative paraprofessional training. Drawing from her prior K-12 teaching and administrative experience, she emphasizes excellence in instructional modeling and cultivating caring learning communities, with publications addressing equity, character development, and literacy frameworks.
Her 2021-2024 publications reveal three dominant trends: (1) character-focused teacher development through book chapters like Commitment to Equity; (2) literacy-science integration evidenced by the Foundational Literacy practitioner guide; and (3) dispositional assessment methodologies addressing professional language gaps in teacher preparation.
Dr. Scarborough actively disseminates research through international conferences including the Asian Conference on Cultural Studies (Tokyo 2024) and International Christian Community for Teacher Education (Wenham 2024), with notable projects like the Samford University & I3 Academy Reading Fellows initiative advancing science-of-reading implementation across Alabama.
