Dr. Kate Saunders is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Centre for Data Science, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the School of Mathematical Sciences. Her research focuses on statistical climatology, particularly modeling climate extremes and understanding climate change impacts on extreme weather events. She also specializes in meteorological data quality control and compound weather event risk assessment.
Education: PhD in Statistical Climatology from the University of Melbourne.
Research interests include improving decision-making for natural disaster risk through probabilistic climate models and advancing statistical methods for meteorological data validation. Recent publications address fisheries management via ecosystem modeling and methodologies for crowdsourced wind speed data quality control.
Her work bridges theoretical statistical frameworks with practical applications in environmental decision-support systems.
