Kate Pride Brown is an Associate Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology within the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and the School of History and Sociology. Her work bridges environmental sociology, political sociology, and social movements, with a focus on environmental activism in Russia and conservation policy in the United States.

Dr. Brown's research examines environmental governance, authoritarianism, and sustainability transitions. She has published extensively on water and energy politics, including her book Saving the Sacred Sea (Oxford University Press, 2018), which analyzes Lake Baikal's conservation conflicts.
Her recent articles explore themes like environmental activism in authoritarian regimes, water conservation barriers, and clean-energy conservatism. These works span journals such as WIREs Water, Ethnography, and Environmental Politics.
