Kate Mitchell serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Arts & Sciences and Director of First-Year Programming at Mount St. Joseph University, her alma mater. With over two decades of teaching experience transitioning from secondary to higher education in 2018, she holds leadership roles across multiple institutions including Cincinnati State Community College and Miami University.
Her educational foundation includes a B.A. in English from Mount St. Joseph University (1997) with dual licensure in Secondary Education and Reading Specialist, complemented by an M.A. in Educational Leadership & Curriculum from Miami University (2002). She pioneered college-credited women's studies curriculum during her 22-year tenure at Mother of Mercy High School.
Professor Mitchell's research focuses on inclusive pedagogy in women's literature and educational transition strategies, evidenced by courses like HerStory and Survey of Women Writers. Her work emphasizes student leadership development and curriculum innovation for first-year college success.
