Dr. Kate McCarthy-Gilmore is the Associate Dean for the School of Humanities & Education and an Associate Professor of Spanish at Loras College. She holds a B.A. (2001) and M.A. (2003) from Western Michigan University, and a Ph.D. (2009) from Washington University in Saint Louis.
Her research spans colonial Latin American literature, gender studies, and asset mapping—a sustainable approach to community development. She actively involves students in asset mapping projects through May Term and semester-long courses, bridging academic theory with community engagement.
