Dr. Kate Kedley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Critical Literacy, Technology & Multilingual Education at Rowan University's College of Education. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, specializing in Language, Literacy, and Culture, alongside MA and BA degrees in English and Education. Previously a secondary English Language Arts and Drivers Education teacher in Iowa, Arizona, and Honduras, Dr. Kedley now focuses on pre-service teacher training.
Her research emphasizes critical literacy, LGBTQ+ literature, intercultural bilingual education, and social movements in Honduras. She critiques metronormativity in rural YA literature and explores translanguaging practices in community programs. Dr. Kedley’s work bridges theory and practice, advocating for inclusive education and public engagement.
Her recent publications analyze LGBTQIA+ book bans, rural queer identity representation, and pandemic-era parenting narratives.
