Kate Hughes

Kate Hughes is a Teaching Fellow and Lecturer in the School of Sciences at Bath Spa University, where she has been employed since 2023. Her academic career spans developmental psychology research and teaching across multiple institutions including the University of Edinburgh, UCL, and the University of Arizona.

Dr. Hughes specializes in cognitive development within atypical populations, evidenced by her doctoral research on memory development in Down Syndrome. Her current research investigates music interventions in primary schools, NHS staff fertility experiences, and student sleep patterns. She maintains expertise across developmental and cognitive psychology domains with strong methodological focus on research design, individual differences analysis, and task validation procedures.

Dr. Hughes previously contributed to research in the MDD lab at the University of Arizona during her postdoctoral fellowship period following her PhD completion.
