Kate Holland is a Senior Research Fellow in Communication and Media Studies at the University of Canberra's Faculty of Arts & Design. Her work focuses on health communication, media representations of public health issues, and critical analysis of biocommunicability, health activism, and research ethics. She has held prestigious awards including an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (2014-2017) and a NHMRC Capacity Building Grant in public health.

Her research explores how media frames shape public understanding of mental health, alcohol consumption during pregnancy, pandemics like swine flu, and obesity. She investigates the interplay between journalistic practice, expert sources, and audience reflexivity, particularly during health crises. Kate also examines ethical challenges in research and media reporting, advocating for participatory dialogue in guidelines.
Kate's recent publications analyze pandemic communication strategies, media guidelines for violence against women reporting, and the role of digital platforms in health discourse. She has contributed to interdisciplinary dialogues on trust dynamics, metajournalistic critique, and social practice approaches to public health.
