Kate Harland

Dr. Kate Harland is an Assistant Professor at Northumbria University's Marketing Operations and Systems Department. She serves as Programme Leader for the Business and Marketing BA(Hons) programme and Module Leader for Customer Experience Marketing and Marketing Strategy and Communications. Her research focuses on hospitality technology innovation, guest-host relationships, and the integration of technology in hospitality contexts. Kate holds a PhD from Northumbria University (2018–2022) and a BA (Hons) in Travel and Tourism Management (2002–2006).

Externally, she is an External Examiner at Sheffield Hallam University and a member of the Institute of Travel and Tourism's Education and Training Committee. She organizes the annual Newcastle ITT Future You Roadshow, connecting students with industry employers. Additionally, she leads the Help to Grow Management Alumni Programme and hosts the Why Small Business Matters Podcast, focusing on business development strategies.

Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and industry collaboration. She is actively involved in promoting graduate employment in tourism and supports small-to-medium enterprises through management training initiatives.
