Dr. Kate Grady is a Senior Lecturer in Law and PhD Admissions Tutor at SOAS University of London’s School of Law, Gender and Media. She holds advanced qualifications including a PhD from the University of Bristol. Her research focuses on military law, international criminal law, and critical legal theories, with a particular emphasis on peacekeeping, peace and security dynamics, and the legal implications of conflict. She supervises doctoral students including Khalil Dewan (The British Drone Matrix) and Denise Naicker (The Co-production of Nuclear Technology and Global Political Order).
Her work critiques legal frameworks around international peacekeeping missions, the Iraq War legacy, and systemic issues in military and UN disciplinary systems. Recent publications analyze the 2003 Iraq War’s legal dimensions and memorialization, while earlier studies address UN peacekeeper misconduct and sexual exploitation data reform. She has contributed to interdisciplinary debates through Routledge and Oxford University Press publications.
Dr. Grady’s legal expertise spans court martial procedures, transnational criminal jurisdiction in England, and the intersection of law with wartime ethics.
