Dr. Kate Duffus is a Research Fellow affiliated with the Manchester Cancer Research Centre at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on genetic susceptibility to autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and systemic sclerosis, with an emphasis on understanding chromatin organization, gene regulation, and genetic risk loci. She contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being through her work in precision medicine and disease mechanism elucidation.
Key research areas include: (1) Chromatin looping and genetic risk loci in dermatological traits, (2) T cell biology and gene expression dynamics in autoimmune conditions, and (3) genomic studies of cancer precision medicine trials like the TiP DETERMINE initiative for rare cancers. Her work integrates epigenetics, functional genomics, and clinical data to uncover disease mechanisms.
Collaborations span international teams in immunology, oncology, and genetic epidemiology. She has published 16 peer-reviewed articles between 2019-2023, with notable contributions to Nature Communications, BMC Biology, and Annals of Oncology. Her research has been cited over 100 times and received social media attention for breakthroughs in linking chromatin interactions to skin disease genetics.
