Katarzyna Nowosad

Dr. Katarzyna Nowosad serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Work Pedagogy and Andragogy at the Institute of Pedagogy, Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin, Poland. She has been collaborating with UMCS since 2012, teaching courses on social pedagogy, work pedagogy, social work, career counseling, and social assistance management.

Dr. Nowosad earned her doctoral degree in 2016 with a dissertation titled "The Value of Work in the Life of Labor Migrants and the Labor Market Situation." Her professional background includes 11 years at the Lublin Provincial Command of the State Fire Service, where she served as a career counselor and later as head of the labor market department. She also held the position of Head of the Education, Promotion and Social Affairs Department at the Lublin County Starosty.

Her research focuses on work pathologies, social pedagogy, work pedagogy, labor market dynamics, professional development, and career trajectories. With extensive experience conducting workshops for students, job seekers, teachers, and psychologists, she emphasizes experiential learning in her teaching methodology. She has co-authored methodological materials for career counselors under European financial mechanisms projects involving Poland, Norway, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Dr. Nowosad's publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output examining labor migration, occupational stress, career development challenges, and work values across diverse populations. Her recent research has explored pandemic impacts on academic youth career planning, occupational burnout among police officers, and social support mechanisms in high-stress occupations, reflecting her commitment to bridging theoretical pedagogy with practical applications.

She has contributed significantly to professional resources including computer programs and games for career counseling. Her work with vulnerable populations—including individuals at risk of social exclusion and those in correctional facilities—provides practical grounding for her academic research on contemporary labor market challenges and professional development.
