Katarzyna Fleming

Dr Katarzyna Fleming is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Teacher Education and a researcher at the Social and Economic Research Institute, Sheffield Hallam University. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, focusing on inclusive education and professional development in teaching. Her research emphasizes co-productive partnerships between educators, parents/carers, and practitioners in Health and Social Care, aiming to foster inclusive and empathetic decision-making processes. She holds qualifications including MEd, B.Ed., Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Teaching Roles:

• Lead for modules such as 'Educational Enquiry', 'Values and Issues in Education', and 'Understanding Inclusion'.
• Academic Advisor and University Link Tutor in Initial Teacher Education (ITE).
• Prior roles include leading the MA in Inclusive Education at Leeds Beckett University and Childhood Studies courses at the University of Leeds.

Research Focus: Qualitative and creative methodologies, co-production frameworks, and Community of Philosophical Enquiry (CPE) to address systemic inequities in education. Current projects explore CPE’s role in fostering partnerships across diverse educational settings, including EYFS, primary/secondary schools, and alternative provision.

Professional Activities:

• External Examiner for Education Studies at Oxford Brooks University.
• Member of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB).

Supervision: Open to supervising doctoral and MA students in qualitative research areas such as co-productive partnerships, inclusive education, and dialogic pedagogies.
