Katarina Jazbec is a Slovenian visual artist and guest lecturer affiliated with the Master Artistic Research program at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK). Currently based in Amsterdam during a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie, she holds an MA in Photography from AKV | St. Joost Art Academy (Breda, Netherlands) and a BA in Economics from Ljubljana. Her work explores the intersection of human and environmental vulnerability within capitalist frameworks through film, photography, and interdisciplinary practices.
Research interests focus on expanding storytelling capacities of lens-based media using collaborative strategies like movement scores and reading groups. She has exhibited at institutions including EYE Filmmuseum and TENT Rotterdam, with her 2021 film 'You Can’t Automate Me' premiering at IFFR.
Awardee of the inaugural RTM Pitch Award, her practice critically examines agency in economic systems through visual narratives. She contributes to academic-artistic discourse as a guest teacher while maintaining international exhibition engagements.
