Katarina Arbin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Business and Economic Studies, University of Gävle. She holds a PhD in Purchasing and Information Systems from the Stockholm School of Economics and specializes in sustainability, supply chain management, and digitalization from a business perspective.
Her research explores organizational sustainability identity, circular economy purchasing, and safety along construction supply chains. She teaches courses such as

Arbin has published extensively on AI in public procurement, sustainable supply chains, and the ARA model in business networks. Her recent work (2023-2025) focuses on AI adoption challenges, professional logic in sustainability roles, and circular economy drivers in construction. Earlier publications (2003-2008) established her expertise in e-procurement and information system adoption.
She has co-authored the textbook Inköp och supply chain management (2019) with Arjan van Weele and contributed to chapters on RFID and mobile logistics. Her research methodology combines theoretical models with real-world case studies, particularly in the construction and transportation sectors.
