Her first book project, Merciful Destruction: Ethics, Technology, and Animal Euthanasia in the United States, 19th Century to the Present, integrates disability studies, feminist care ethics, and the history of technology. This work has been supported by grants from the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History (Harvard University), the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, the Library Company of Philadelphia, and the Culture and Animals Foundation (with North Carolina State University Libraries).
Her research bridges environmental history, animal welfare activism, and the ethical implications of technological interventions in human-animal relationships.
