Kassandra Mellott

Dr. Kassandra Mellott, DMSc, PA-C is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's College of Allied Health Professions. She works in the Physician Assistant Program within the Department of Medical Sciences. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Dr. Mellott completed her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University with Cum Laude honors, where she conducted research on western corn rootworm and organic chemistry.

Her clinical background includes extensive experience in rural emergency and hospital medicine settings. Before joining the faculty, she served as a clinical preceptor for UNMC students. Dr. Mellott earned her Doctor of Medical Sciences from the University of Lynchburg in 2019 after graduating from UNMC's Physician Assistant Program in 2016.

Dr. Mellott's research interests focus on emergency medicine protocols, hospital medicine practices, and physician assistant education methodologies, particularly in rural healthcare contexts.
