Karyn Olivier is a Professor of Sculpture at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University. Her practice spans sculptures, installations, and public memorials that interrogate history, memory, and cultural identity.

Olivier’s work focuses on transforming historical narratives through material experimentation and site-specific interventions. She merges sculpture with architectural elements, often incorporating mirrored surfaces and symbolic materials to create dialogues about marginalized histories and collective memory. Her projects frequently address themes of slavery, colonialism, and urban archaeology.
Notable exhibitions include the Whitney Biennial (2023), Prospect.6 Triennial (2023), Documenta 15 (2022), and the Malta Biennale (2023). She is recognized for large-scale public installations like the Bethel Burying Ground memorial (2025) and Stenton House’s commemoration of an enslaved servant.
