Karyn E. Faber

Dr. Karyn E. Faber is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at New York University's College of Dentistry and serves as Director of Undergraduate Experiential Learning. With over 15 years of experience in applied public health, she specializes in program planning, implementation, management, and evaluation across community-based and philanthropic settings.

Research Interests: Dr. Faber's work focuses on enhancing quality of life for minority elders with chronic illnesses. She investigates strengths, resilience, health behaviors, and systemic mechanisms sustaining disparities, particularly in resource-poor communities. Her expertise includes crafting health education programs for at-risk populations and community-based outreach.

Grants and Outreach: She has secured grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and National Cancer Institute (NCI) to study psychosocial issues in chronic illness and survivorship. Her outreach efforts aim to address health disparities through community collaboration.

Labs and Teams: Prior to joining NYU's College of Dentistry, she served as a Research Scientist in the Psychosocial Research Unit on Health, Aging, and the Community, contributing to cancer survivorship initiatives.
