Karol Weaver is a Professor of History at Susquehanna University, where she teaches courses on U.S. history, American women’s history, and the history of medicine. Her research focuses on medical caregiving, psychiatric nursing, and social identity in historical contexts.
- Ph.D. and M.S. in History from Pennsylvania State University
- B.A. in History from Bloomsburg University
Her publications include the books Medical Revolutionaries: The Enslaved Healers of Eighteenth-Century Saint Domingue (University of Illinois Press) and Medical Caregiving and Identity in Pennsylvania’s Anthracite Region, 1880–2000 (Penn State Press). Current projects explore the history of psychiatric nursing in the anthracite coal region.
