Karla Giuliano Sarr, EdD, is an adjunct faculty member at SIT Graduate Institute, affiliated with the MA in Sustainable Development Practice (Part-Time Hybrid) program. She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) and Master of Education (MEd) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
Her research interests focus on international education, including multilingual education, cultural relevancy in curricula, community-school partnerships, and girls’ education. She emphasizes practical applications in training, program evaluation, and curriculum design. Her work spans diverse contexts, including Africa (e.g., Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, Ethiopia) and juvenile justice programs in the U.S.
Professionally, Karla has coordinated cultural exchange programs in Senegal with Africa Consultants International, advised study abroad programs at UMass, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gabon. She collaborates with organizations like School-to-School International and the International Rescue Committee. Fluent in French, Wolof, and Spanish, she is active in the Comparative and International Education Society and American Evaluation Association.
