معرفی
Professor Karl Börjesson leads a research group at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Chemistry & Molecular Biology, focusing on designing molecules and materials for advanced applications. His work integrates synthesis, photophysical characterization, and light-matter interactions to develop functional molecular systems. Key areas include strong exciton-photon coupling, resonance energy transfer, covalent organic frameworks, photon upconversion, and organic dye glasses. His research aims to bridge fundamental physics and practical material science for technologies like solar energy conversion and molecular electronics.
Current group members include PhD students (Rahul Bhuyan, Jie Xu, Yuanxin Liang, Hanna Tideland) and postdocs (Nicola Peruffo, Krishnapriya Kunnumma). He collaborates with institutions such as Chalmers University and Eindhoven University of Technology. Key funding sources include the ERC Consolidator Grant and Wallenberg Academy Fellowship.
Research highlights include demonstrating selective manipulation of molecular energy levels via light-matter coupling, developing 3D covalent organic framework films, and advancing photon upconversion strategies. His work on dye glasses and molecular solar thermal storage systems has implications for sustainable energy and materials science.
Teaching responsibilities include organic chemistry for prescriptionists and physical chemistry spectroscopy. Recent publications span topics like polaritonic photochemistry, entropy-driven material design, and triplet-triplet annihilation dynamics.
