Karisma Price is an Assistant Professor of English at Tulane University, based in New Orleans. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from New York University (2019) and a BA from Columbia University (2017). Her work bridges poetry, screenwriting, and media art, focusing on themes of identity, urban experience, and Black Southern culture.

Research Interests: Price’s poetry interrogates intersections of race, place, and body politics. Her debut collection I'm Always So Serious (2023) explores Black womanhood through lyrical narratives rooted in New Orleans and Brooklyn. She also engages in experimental forms and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Advising & Grants: Price’s current projects include a screenplay and poetry about chronic illness stemming from a 2020 accident. She emphasizes community-centered writing practices and has participated in NYU’s Writers in the Public Schools program.
Labs/Teams: Active in Tulane’s English Department and Brooklyn’s literary scene, she collaborates with Cave Canem Foundation and organizations fostering Black literary arts.
