Karina Slunkaite is an academic staff member at the Romance Department of Heidelberg University since October 2022, affiliated with the professorship of Prof. Dr. Sybille Große. Previously, she served as a research assistant (2021–2022) and student assistant (2017–2021) in the same department. She holds a Master's degree (M. Ed.) in Romance Studies (French and Spanish) from Heidelberg University (2018–2021) and a Bachelor's degree from Heidelberg University and the Université Paris-Sorbonne IV (2015–2018).
Her research focuses on language standardization, Early Modern Period grammatography, and French as a foreign language (diachronic). Current projects include a dissertation on Éléazar de Mauvillon’s *Remarques sur les Germanismes*, exploring linguistic tensions between textual models and originality in 18th-century works. She actively participates in academic activities, such as presenting at conferences like the 14th Congress of the Franco-Romance Association and organizing interdisciplinary workshops funded by the Heidelberg Graduate Academy.
Slunkaite serves as middle management representation in the study commission and doctoral student representation in the Faculty Council. She is a member of the German Romance Studies Association (DRV) and has conducted research excursions to France (2023).
Her work bridges historical linguistics and cultural studies, emphasizing the socio-political dimensions of language norms and education.
