Karin Vanderkerken

Karin Vanderkerken is a Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, affiliated with the Basic (bio-) Medical Sciences school and the Translational Oncology Research Center. Her work focuses on basic and translational research in multiple myeloma, targeting cancer cells within their microenvironment.

• Expertise in studying functional interactions between cancer cells and their microenvironment using microarray, real-time PCR, FACS analysis, and western blotting.
• Investigates the influence of histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDAC-I) in 5TMM models.

Her research spans multiple myeloma, tumor microenvironment, epigenomics, and histone deacetylase inhibition. Recent projects include collaborations on nanobody-based therapies and multi-omics profiling of T cells.
