Karin Sundström is a Principal Researcher at the Karolinska Institute, affiliated with the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology and leading the Human papillomavirus which causes cervical cancer – Research Group. She serves as a research group leader and cancer epidemiologist with extensive experience in molecular epidemiology and biobank infrastructure utilization.

Research Interests:
- HPV-associated cancer elimination
- Biomarker development for female cancers
- Register-based cervical screening optimization

Scientific Contributions: With over 20 publications in 2023-2024 alone, her work spans HPV vaccination effectiveness, cervical screening algorithms, and cancer risk stratification using epigenetic markers. Her MERMAID III initiative focuses on ovarian cancer prevention through biomarker research.
