Karin Arts

Karin Arts is Professor of International Law and Development at Erasmus University Rotterdam's International Institute of Social Studies. Her work examines how international law serves as an instrument for equitable development, human rights protection, and climate justice implementation. Current research focuses on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and rights-based development approaches.

Scholarly work analyzes the evolving relationship between international legal frameworks and national implementation mechanisms, particularly regarding children's rights and climate justice. Recent publications track participation in multilateral treaties and examine humanitarian organizations' roles.

Editorial responsibilities include serving for the Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights. Research informs policy discussions on global governance and human rights institutionalization.
