Karin Amos

Karin Amos is a Professor of General Pedagogy at the Institute of Educational Science within the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Tübingen. Since 2013, she has served as Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching, focusing on educational governance, international comparative education, and intercultural pedagogy.

• Education: Habilitation in Education (Goethe University Frankfurt, 2002); PhD in Philosophy (Catholic University of Eichstätt, 1992)

Her research examines the social and political conditioning of education since the 19th century, emphasizing globalization, Europeanization, and transnationalization. Key themes include the interplay of educational policy, institutional frameworks, and subjectivation processes, with a focus on inclusion/exclusion patterns and diversity discourses.

Recent publications analyze educational governance, digitization in education, and policy translation mechanisms in European contexts. She leads the research consortium GOETE (Governance of Educational Trajectories in Europe), studying access and relevance of education for youth (10–16 years) in diverse systems.

Amos has contributed to debates on educational standardization, governance techniques, and social justice in schooling. She co-edits the journal Erziehungswissenschaftliche Revue and serves on advisory boards for European Education and Forum for International Research in Education.
