معرفی
Karim MAGHNI is a Professor in the Department of Respiratory Pathophysiology at the Université de Montréal, affiliated with the Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal. His research focuses on neurokinin-immune system interactions in asthma pathophysiology, nanotoxicology, and respiratory health. He leads or co-leads multiple research projects funded by CIHR, IRSST, and other agencies.
- Research Expertise: Investigates neurokinin roles in asthma mechanisms using mouse models, bronchial reactivity, cytokine expression, and nanomaterial toxicity effects on lung cells.
- Affiliations: Member of GRUM (University Research Group on Medicines) and the International Team in Nanotoxicology (TITNT). Collaborates with institutions like the CIUSSS du Nord-de-l'Île-de-Montréal.
Research Grants:
- ExpoNanoTox (2014-2015): Characterizing nanoparticle exposure risks, funded by Ministère Économie et Innovation.
- U-NanoBadge Development (2013-2015): Prototyping universal exposure sensors, funded by IRSST and Prima Québec.
- CIHR Quebec Respiratory Health Training Program (2009-2015): Co-investigator in respiratory health capacity-building.
Supervision: Advised 9 graduate students (2005–2016) on topics like nanotoxicity, asthma immunology, and lung cell responses to mechanical ventilation.
