KariAnne Vrabel is an Associate Professor II at the Institute of Psychology, University of Oslo, and serves concurrently as Research Leader at Modum Bad. Her academic work focuses on psychotherapy processes and outcomes, particularly in eating disorders, trauma disorders, and adolescent mental health.

Research Interests:
Vrabel’s research centers on the mechanisms of change in psychotherapy, investigating the interplay between process and outcome. She explores whether common or specific factors drive therapeutic change, with a particular focus on eating disorders, trauma disorders, and adolescent mental health. Her work delves into perfectionism, body dissatisfaction, and identity development among adolescents.

Vrabel is involved in several research projects and groups, including SOFIA (anorexia during COVID-19), Complexity in Treatment, Outcome, Psychopathology & Epidemiology (COPE), and PRocess and OUtcome of eating Disorder (PROUD). She teaches courses such as PSYC1202, PSYC1302, PSYC4310, and PSYC3300.
Labs and Teams:
She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams at Modum Bad and the University of Oslo, contributing to large-scale randomized controlled trials and longitudinal studies in eating disorders and trauma.
