Karen Wiles serves as an Assistant Professor at both the Medical College of Georgia and the College of Science and Mathematics. Her dual appointments span the Department of Physiology and the Department of Biological Sciences, reflecting interdisciplinary expertise in physiological and biological systems. She holds a Ph.D. in Pathology from Vanderbilt University (2010) and a B.S.C. in Chemistry from Salisbury University (2003).
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Pathology, Vanderbilt University, 2010
- B.S.C. in Chemistry, General, Salisbury University, 2003
Research Interests focus on cellular and molecular physiology, histology, and human anatomical systems. Her work bridges microbiology and biochemistry, particularly in understanding bacterial interactions with human fibrinolytic systems, as seen in her 2010 publication on Streptococcus agalactiae.
Scholarship and Teaching include contributions to educational materials like the 2024 textbook Anatomy and Physiology I, alongside roles in instructing advanced physiology courses such as PSIO 7310 (Advanced CV Phys) and BIOM 8033 (Integrated Systems Biol).
