Karen Stevens serves as an Associate Professor and Assistant Program Director in the Department of Physical Therapy at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science's College of Health Professions. A Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS), she specializes in orthopedic physical therapy, kinesiology, anatomy, and clinical skills instruction.
Her academic credentials include a Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Rosalind Franklin University, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, a Research Practicum from Northern Arizona University under Thomas McPoil PhD, and a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Anthropology from Northwestern University.
Dr. Stevens' research centers on anatomy education and foot/ankle biomechanics, with specific focus on foot strength, mobility, and functional assessment. She actively investigates educational methodologies including curriculum design and simulation-based learning in physical therapy education.
Her recent publications (2020-2022) reveal strong trends in pandemic-era anatomy teaching innovations, quantitative analysis of foot strength mechanics across postures, and anthropometric influences on lower extremity function. These works bridge clinical anatomy, biomechanics, and educational assessment within rehabilitation sciences.
