Karen Smallman is a Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Worcester's School of Nursing and Midwifery, Department of Pre-Registration Nursing. She holds a DipHe in Adult Nursing (2006, Worcester) and a BSc in Dimensions in Health care – Infection Control (2017, Birmingham City University), complemented by a Health Protection Module (2023, Liverpool University). Her career spans NHS roles in acute medical nursing, community district nursing, and infection control advisory positions across Worcestershire. She has also worked in public health for a Government Council in Greater Manchester.
Her teaching and professional focus centers on Infection prevention and control, Health protection, Health promotion, and Emergency planning. Karen emphasizes equipping nurses to deliver safe, compassionate care and advocates for health protection strategies in clinical practice.
