Emma Bentley is a Lecturer in the Department of Midwifery at the University of Worcester, within the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She recently transitioned from a clinical role as a Practice Facilitator at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust into academia, bringing 8 years of hands-on midwifery experience to her teaching.

Research & Teaching Interests:
Emma specializes in postnatal care and newborn physical examination, drawing from her extensive clinical background. Her teaching spans both BSc and Master’s midwifery programmes, focusing on evidence-based practice, newborn assessment, and obstetric care. She is particularly interested in bridging the gap between clinical practice and academic education, ensuring that students are well-prepared for real-world midwifery challenges.
Clinical Expertise:
Before joining the university, Emma worked as a clinical midwife for 8 years, with a focus on postnatal care and obstetrics. Her role as a Practice Facilitator involved mentoring and training junior midwives, which now informs her pedagogical approach in higher education.
