Karen Plucinski serves as Assistant Director and Instructor in the Advanced Inquiry Program (Project Dragonfly) at Marian University. Previously, she spent over 22 years as biology faculty at Missouri Southern State University and Defiance College, teaching courses such as general ecology, field zoology, mammalogy, and conservation biology. She holds a Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Maine, an M.S. in Zoology from the University of Montana, and a B.S. in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire.
Her research and teaching focus on wildlife ecology, conservation biology, and field-based education. She has led experiential courses in ecosystems like the Greater Yellowstone Area and Belize, and contributed to citizen science initiatives through roles at the Great Plains Wildlife Institute. Her work emphasizes bridging formal and informal science education.
A passionate naturalist, Karen resides in Fairfield, Ohio, and engages in outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and wildlife observation in her free time.
