Karen M Sheehan, MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics, Medical Education, and Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Chair for Advocacy in the Department of Pediatrics and is Medical Director of the Lurie Children’s Injury Prevention & Research Center and the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities. As a founding volunteer of the Chicago Youth Programs, she focuses on improving health outcomes for at-risk youth.

Research Interests center on youth development, injury and violence prevention, and population health. Her work addresses social determinants of health, firearm injury prevention, and urban community health disparities. She leads initiatives like the Community Health Advocacy Initiative and collaborates on global health through the Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health.
