Dr. Karen Lane is a Researcher in the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews, affiliated with the School of Philosophical and Anthropological Studies. She serves as Evening Degree Coordinator for Social Anthropology and teaches modules like 'Anthropology of the City' and 'Global Social Issues.' Her research focuses on urban anthropology, sensory ethnography, and innovative fieldwork methods involving non-human collaborators like her dog Torridon.

Methodologically, she combines storytelling, flâneurie, and canine-assisted ethnography to access marginalized narratives. She advocates experiential teaching methods, integrating sensory approaches in education.
