Dr. Karen L. Eckert is a Professor of Sustainability and Director of the Center for Sustainability at Principia College. Her work focuses on international biodiversity management, marine conservation (especially sea turtles), and policy development. She holds a PhD in Zoology from the University of Georgia and a BS from Principia College.

Research Interests
Eckert specializes in migratory species conservation, community-based solutions, and policy frameworks at local to global scales. Her fieldwork spans the Western Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Southeast Asia. She emphasizes sustainable livelihoods through micro-enterprise development and inclusive conservation models.

Leadership & Impact
