Karen Kennedy is an Assistant Professor and Chair in the Department of Nursing at Cape Breton University. A Registered Nurse with expertise in Medical Surgical, ICU, ER, and Sexual Assault Nursing, she earned her Doctorate of Education from Western University. Her research focuses on sexual violence prevention, underreporting of sexual violence, and nursing curriculum development and evaluation.
Her research methodologies include qualitative approaches such as Grounded Theory and Phenomenology, informed by critical theories and intersectional feminism. Cape Breton University acknowledges its location in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw People.
