Karen Hanson is an Assistant Clinical Professor (Social Work) at the Child Study Center, Yale School of Medicine. Her work focuses on families impacted by parental substance use, child welfare interventions, and policy integration to prevent child maltreatment. She holds a Master of Social Service Administration (MSSA) from Case Western Reserve University (1993).
Research interests include substance use disorder interventions, family-based recovery programs, and interagency collaboration between mental health agencies and child protective services. Her model, Family-Based Recovery, is highlighted for in-home treatment and family preservation.
