apl. Prof. Dr. Karen Friese serves as the Acting Institute Director of the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science (JCNS), specifically leading the Quantum Materials and Collective Phenomena (JCNS-2) department. She holds an adjunct professorship and is a Private Docent in Crystallography at RWTH Aachen University. Her research focuses on caloric materials, high-pressure crystallography, phase transitions, and advanced diffraction techniques using neutrons and X-rays. She is based at the Research Center Jülich's Wilhelm-Johnen-Straße campus in room 04.8/304.
