Karen Cohen-Gazith

Dr. Karen Cohen-Gazith serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP) within McGill University’s Faculty of Education. She concurrently holds the role of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) and acts as the ECP liaison to OFNIE. Her professional affiliations include being Program Director for the Certificate in Inclusive Education, Dean of Academics at Montreal’s Azrieli Schools (encompassing Talmud Torah elementary and Herzliah high school), and Director of the Education Federation CJA.

She holds a PhD in Education and Counseling Psychology. Her expertise focuses on inclusive education, evidence-based practices, educational leadership, and developmental psychology. Key areas of specialization include reading development, differentiated instruction, and change management strategies to support inclusion in educational settings.

Dr. Cohen-Gazith’s work emphasizes bridging neuroscience insights with classroom instruction, as seen in her books like The Power of Effective Reading Instruction (published by Solution Tree) and Teaching with Purpose. She has lectured globally, addressing topics such as response-to-intervention frameworks and assessment strategies in Canada, the U.S., England, Israel, and Australia.

Her professional activities also include leadership in community education initiatives.
