Dr Karen Beaulieu is an Associate Lecturer and Associate Head of School (Internationalisation) at the School of Health Professions, University of Plymouth. She leads the MSc Advanced Professional Practice in Occupational Therapy and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate occupational therapy programmes, with a focus on neuroscience-related modules. Her research interests include brain injury rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and internationalisation of curricula. She actively supervises postgraduate and undergraduate research projects. Dr Beaulieu has served on the University Senate since 2018.
Her academic background and teaching span over 20 years, with expertise in qualitative methodologies and neurology. She has contributed to 20+ peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like sensory processing in forensic mental health, return-to-work pathways post-brain injury, and internationalisation of healthcare education. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
Dr Beaulieu's research emphasizes patient-centered approaches, interprofessional collaboration, and evidence-based practice. She advocates for inclusive education and equitable healthcare access, particularly for individuals with long-term conditions or disabilities.
