Karen B. Strier

Karen B. Strier is Vilas Research Professor and Irven DeVore Professor of Anthropology at UW-Madison, with affiliations in Zoology and environmental studies. She directs the Muriqui Project of Caratinga, studying endangered primates in Brazil's Atlantic Forest since 1982.

Research examines behavioral ecology, life history, and conservation strategies for critically endangered northern muriqui monkeys. Long-term population monitoring reveals impacts of demographic fluctuations on conservation outcomes.
