Karen-Ann Dicken is a Lecturer in Art and Design and Contemporary Art Practice at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). She is currently completing her PhD at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee, focusing on craft makers' use of digital technologies in handcraft tooling, with a particular emphasis on agency analysis between handcraft and digital processes.
Her research interests include the integration of digital manufacturing with traditional handcraft, ethical practices in jewellery design, and agency mapping as an analytical tool. She has presented work at conferences in the UK, US, and Kenya. Her publication co-authored with W. Yothers and A. Cappellieri explores contemporary jewellery design and manufacturing in the 21st century.
