Karen A. May is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Widener University, affiliated with the BSN and Accelerated Nursing (ABSN) programs. She holds a PhD in Nursing Education from Villanova University (2013). Her research focuses on climate change's impact on health, disaster preparedness, and student success, emphasizing community-driven health initiatives. Dr. May has received the Excellence in Practice Award (2021) and the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence Award (2013).
Her work bridges academia and practice, including vaccine outreach during the pandemic and international population health projects in Peru. She has advised students like Daniel Paparelli and Thomas Froio on community health initiatives. Her book chapter in Clinical Nursing Skills & Techniques (2020) addresses home care safety. Dr. May is active in professional organizations such as the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments and the American Nurses Association.
