Kareem Abdelfattah

Kareem Abdelfattah, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in UT Southwestern’s Department of Surgery, specializing in trauma and critical care surgery. He completed his medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, followed by residency and fellowship training in general surgery, burns, trauma, and critical care at UT Southwestern. He practices at Parkland’s dedicated trauma services and the UT Southwestern Burn Unit, serving as North Texas’s regional burn center.

Dr. Abdelfattah’s research focuses on metabolism and nutrition in critical illness, surgical education, and burn care innovations. His work explores advanced imaging techniques like multispectral SWIR for burn wound assessment and has pioneered simulation-based curricula in surgical training.
