معرفی
Dr. Karanjeet Sandhu is a Research Fellow at the Plant Breeding Institute, University of Sydney, specializing in wheat rust pathology and high-throughput phenotyping. He coordinates the project 'Optimising genetic control of wheat rusts through improved phenotyping' and previously managed initiatives addressing stripe rust in South Asia and myrtle rust screening. His expertise spans robotics, imaging, and machine learning for disease analysis.
Education:
- PhD (2011): Genetic and Molecular Analyses of Barley for Rust Resistance, University of Sydney
- MSc (1994): Bioactivity of Melia azedarach L., Punjab Agricultural University
Research Focus: Development of molecular markers for rust pathogens, characterization of adult plant resistance, and automation of disease phenotyping. Collaborates with Sydney Institute of Agriculture and industry partners.
Grants & Projects:
- Funded by ACIAR for wheat rust genetic control (current)
- ARC Linkage Project LP180100721 (restoration ecology)
- National Myrtle Rust Transition to Management Program (prior)
Labs/Teams: Leads the National Myrtle Rust Screening Facility and contributes to cereal rust research networks globally.
