Davinder Singh is a Senior Research Fellow at the Plant Breeding Institute, University of Sydney. He holds a PhD in wheat rust genetics and has over 20 years of experience in crop improvement research across Australia, East Africa, South Pacific, and India. His work focuses on genetics/breeding for disease resistance and yield enhancement in cereals, root crops, and tree crops. He is a member of the Sydney Institute of Agriculture and has collaborated with international organizations like CIMMYT and IAEA.
Education: PhD in wheat rust genetics (University of Sydney, 1998); Master’s in International Development (Deakin University). Research interests include cereal rust genetics, disease resistance breeding, and international agriculture development to enhance food security.
His research aligns with the University's strengths in Future Foods and Complex Systems. Over 150 publications span refereed journals, books, and technical guidelines. He supervises postgraduate students in plant breeding and pathology.
